My reed is closing up and the notes lower than middle bassoon c don't speak proplerly-how do I open it up again?

Take a pair of needlenose pliers, or any pliers if you don't have smaller ones, and very gently pinch the sides of the wire closest to the end you blow on. This will open the reed. Be careful to do it just a tiny bit. You can always do more.
