Go for it - the only only way you'll find answers to your questions is to try it yourself.
Some find it easy & others impossible like me & the trumpet - how do you get a decent sound out of the thing? Find a good teacher, some good reeds & a bassoon that is in good working order & have fun!

Its really up to you. If you have been playing the trumpet and truly enjoy it I think you should stick to it. If you think your stuck in a rut, and want the opportunity to do stuff, I believe you should take up the bassoon. Ive been playing for about 6 years now. I started on violin and wasnt going anywhere with that. I took the opportunity of the bassoon when offered and have never regretted it. You are always valued and wanted, for some reason there isnt enough of us for the demand. Most bassoonists, I have found, are all of a lovely nature. So its truly comes down to how much you love the trumpet? You may find after playing the bassoon after a while, your trumpet playing will become better, even if you dont practise your trumpet in a while.

So i tried the bassoon and i really like it. I've been playing for all of 3 days and i have noticed that my tone is better when i play my trumpet. I think that i am going to play bassoon for Symphonic band and trumpet for Jazz band. Thanks for your help. I'm gonna go practice.
