Yes, I guess all beginning bassoon players sound maybe just a little bit like moose. That will change as soon as your embouchure gets stronger and you can control the tone more. And that only comes with practice!

The only words to describe the first sound I made on a bassoon were a goose with a cold. It does get better, and depending on which reeds you choose (or make, in some cases), you'll find that sound that works.

And yes, embouchure will develop with time. I remember being barely able to play ten measures of music without pausing to catch my breath and loosen my lips.

I may sound like a moose, but i realize that i will get better, so my moose sounds will continue. i really like it. It loads of fun. For me its almost like an adventure and a break.

wow. a Moose? that's a new one!
I sounded like a constipated bear, but not a moose!
Just keep the air flowing evenly, and use your tongue to stop the note until you're more used to the instrument.
Good luck with your music!
