I know heckels are expensive, the 41i being worth about oh ONLY (roll eyes) 28,000 euros and a four year wait period. I was wondering though, does anyone know how much a heckel crest costs and how much a heckel contra (both new if thats even possible lol) would cost.
This is more out of curiosity then actually buying one.
Thanks

The Heckel Crest is a recent development, banking only on the Heckel name brand. Time and again I hear from those who have tried them that they are absolutely not worth the money. That was also my opinion when playing it. You can buy a much better Fox bassoon for the same or less money. The new 601 bassoon is quite a good horn. Fox started a new varnishing process a few years ago, so don't get one too old (it's like buying last year's computer). Fox invests much of it's time and money for research and development on those mid-range priced horns.
Fox has been trying to figure out how to make better bassoons. Heckel was trying to figure out how to cut corners to make a cheaper one.
Either get the real thing (a Heckel) or get a Fox.
