Alrighty, please don't vote unless you've tried a high end puchner or a high end moosmann.
Feel free to comment though.
I'm looking at a 15000$CAN brand new moosmann 200AP (europe its more like the 222) and a 15000$CAN Puchner 5000 series, dark red, 7 years old. Beautiful shape.
What are your preferences between the two brands? (I really wish I didn't have to decide on this)
Note that I'll be playing at least the moosmann prior to purchase, but I know theyre both great so I imagine I'll have a hard time choosing. Plus to choose whichever one to trial in Canada costs shipping and annoying customs rebates, so I'd like an idea of which I like even before trialling.
Personally, I'd go for a Moosmann. Just because I've played on a Moosmann for a year now, but if its anything like the 100a I'm playing, I would advice against it. Its got such a odd sound, it doesn't sound woody enough xD. Bring along a pro bassoon player (if your not). that usually helps xD
yea, i imagine it wood sound quite different... Moosmann is supposedly bright and loud, and very woody (don't forget the 200ap has the exact same body as the top model), and Puchner sounds dark and lyrical. I will for sure be testing the moosmann (its at a store in Canada) but I dont know whether I should fork out $250 to try out the Puchner via escrow. It's a lot to pay when I can't really afford the bassoon to begin with :P
ps i played a 100a once, briefly enough that i hardly remember it, but i imagine it would sound a lot different than that time
