okay i need help...
my teacher doesn't quite necessarily know how to play the bassoon.
i just recently switched to it and i had to teach myself how to play it.
could someone please tell me like a book or something that could make me
better at bassoon?
My teacher gave me this extremely hard book expecting me to play it and i just cant...

Second problem
okay ever since the 7th grade i have been playing the schools instruments ( due to the costlyness of the tenor saxophone) but here is the thing i dont really like the one im playing for the school...there are scratches all over it and where you clip the bass joint to the wing joint that hole is like totally damaged... i some how want to buy a better one...but where could i get it...i prefer Amati or Renard bassoons but whatever one is for me.

A great book which many, many bassoonists have started out on is called "Practical Method for the Bassoon" by Julius Weissenborn. You can often find these books on eBay and since I have had mine for the last umpteen years I haven't looked to see who might sell them now. This book takes you from the very very beginning right up to complicated stuff. Just try putting this in google and you will probably get several places where it can be purchased.

I'd go for a Renard any day - higher quality wood, much better made & will last much longer also spares etc are much easier to come by especially in N. America.

well the book that you were saying is the one i have. It wasn't the book that was giving me trouble it was some spare sheet music that my teacher gave with it.
and thanks for the idea for the new bassoon!

Ya, I'd go for the Renard way before I'd go for Amati. You'd probably be smart to stay away from Amati if you plan on playing bassoon past high school, or else you'd probably have to upgrade. I know, I bought a stencil instrument made by Amati. I want to burn that piece of crap xD!
