Hi all,
I have a few questions about possibly picking up bassoon.
I really like the sound and would love to try it.
However, I do not have the biggest hands out there, I'm in middle school.
Also I have no reed experience. I play violin, however I think that reading bass clef will not be a problem.
I have read that it is easier to start with an instrument like flute.
Please help me, thank you

Most makers produce a short reach model for people with small hands. These are standard sized bassoons which have modified keywork to make life easier.

I reckon it would be best to bypass the flute & go straight for the bassoon - the playing techniques are quite different.

Best thing is to find a teacher & get some expert advice before buying an instrument.

Go for it. Good luck.

Ian
