my bassoon teacher at camp (at the Philadelphia International Music Festival) told me to get a reed making kit with a mandrel, knife, plaque, and wood block. where might i get this?

You can find them online. Several of the large suppliers will have one - just google for reedmaking kit or similar words and they will come up.
