Hi, I received a trumpet by christmas( but santa came earlier to weeks), and I am practicing every day since I got her, I`m 17 and I play piano(not so good).
I can make some scales, and today by playing "Someday my Prince Will Come" (Miles Davis used to play this) I hited (is this spelled alright?) High C, then I got higher and higher till double high A. Are this high notes bad to my lips, since that I`m just starting? Should I first Improve my muscles?

Thanks in Advance

are you sure you played double a? that is the one above the a that`s above the staff... Or 4 and a half lines above the staff. if you are playing that and you just started than yes it is bad... but i don`t know a beginner that has ever hit that high. i`m considered to have a very good range and i can only play 3 to 4 notes higher than that. and was it a squeak or a note? i`m guessing that if by some crazy chance that you did hit it you weren`t actually blowing air... just pursing your lips and kind of half buzzing with the mouthpiece crammed way up against your lips and about 5 minutes later it was very hard to play anything.

yes, it was really a double a, hard to believe I know, I played it on the piano(it gave me a B) to check, I couldn`t believe but it was the first time that I hited High C, and then I felt curiosity and continued to go up, by looking at the fingering chart next to the music that I was playing. It was a clean note, and I sustained it as long as my breath could. Thanks for the advice

Re: "I hited (is this spelled alright?)...."

No, the word you want is "hit". For that matter, it`s "all right", not "alright".
