I was wondering what the differences are between the soprano trombone/slide trumpet and the Bb trumpet. Besides the replacement of valves with a slide what are the differences. I`m talking ease, playability, tone, range, and power. That kind of stuff.
tones alot better on the soprano. I don`t know much about it but I believe Chuck Findley plays the slide trumpet. Can any of you guys help me out on this?
Maynard I believe played on what he called the "superbone". However, I dont see much of a difference except you can get the trombone "slide lag" effect on a trumpet sound, its pretty cool.
The soprano trombone, often referred to as a slide trumpet, plays one octave above a tenor trombone. Achievement of good tone and range on that instrument takes practice, just like on a Bb trumpet, C trumpet, Piccolo trumpet, or any other wind instrument.
The Soprano Trombone is technically louder than a Bb Trumpet since there is less resistance. There is only 2 curves on the trombone , but i think 6 on a trumpet. I think they both sound the same. The trumpet is definetly more practical and is more agile.
Well, obviously, the key is different. So, you would either play trombone/tuba/baritone music (if you read bass clef well) or "C" trumpet music.
Nice to see im not the only one wanting a soprano (thumbs up)
