I've played the trumpet for 5 years and recently I've noticed a mark on my lips from obviously using too much mouthpiece pressure that hasn't gone away. Even when I took an entire week off from practicing it was still apparant. Also, its swollen. PLEASE GIVE ME ADVICE BESIDES USING LESS PRESSURE BECAUSE I AM ALREADY DOING THAT NOW> THANK YOU

Alright, yea everyone has this problem. I am going to say use less pressure because you should. But don't think of it in that sense. Think about using more air. A way to practice trumpet without using less pressure is actually using common physics. Point your trumpet downwards while you play applying some, but not much pressure. BUT USE AIR AIR AIR AIR AIR!!. So you point your trumpet down and play a few scales two octaves and point lower and lower and eventually go inbetween your legs. I had this problem once and discussed it with my teacher. Actually it was something about my range and something to do with pressure. But trust me, i kno what i'm talkin about. If you got another question, email me at trumpetkid89@gmail.com

if your having trouble w/ not having enough air, get a B.E.R.P. (Breathing Exorcise Restance Pipe) we have them at our school and they help ALOT.

theres also this lip balm stuff that drum corps use which might help to get rid of that ring and it will also loosten your chops after playing for a long time
