I have a few toughies. I got the carnival of venice..it's tough. Then there's the hummel, haydn, and arutunian concerto. And i'm trying to teach myself hora staccato by ear. hummel i wouldn't say is that hard....the haydn is a toughy for some reason. Carnival of Venice is a pain cuz u can't play thru it without messin up something at least once lol. Then i can play a hole bunch of stuff in the variation section in the arban book too. so there u go. Senior in highschool soon to be, and playing professional pieces of music. Rock on. or classical on.

I can now play Haydn Trumpet Concerto. ACtually, I could play all except for a few licks in the first movement due to range and flexibility issues, but now I can play it in its entirety although I dread the Eb above the staff. As for now I'm studying Arbans!!!

I am rising Juinior in High School and I am also currently working on the Arutunian and the Haydyn. I played the Hummel last year accompanied by the youth High School philharmonic that I play in. I think the Arutunian is a really cool sounding piece with many cool double tounging runs and is very exciting to play. I have a recording of Sergai Nariakov playing it, which is what i am basing my style off of.

Quite frankly i'm SICK of the Arutunian...it's just now annoying. Carnival of venice is getting annoying too. There aren't many popular pieces out there. I think i should purchase the Tomasi concerto. But if any of you guys wanna talk, my screen name for aim is Bachm37.

Hey, I just turned 16 and play 1st chair in hs. Do you have any suggestions on pieces that would be about my level but challenging? I'm seriously bored. Thanks.

Well it depends on what you're looking at. I'm first chair at my hs too, but i'm also in the top 3 best in my state. I'm not really sure how good you are. But not many people do the hole double tounging thing..i know i do, but you might not. And how's your range??? Give the hummel a shot, or the haydn. Fun pieces. I just bought them 2 days ago and they're basically perfected lol. Umm, buy the arban book if you don't have it already...there's a lot of fun stuff to work on in there. 14 Charactaristic studies, and all the different variation stuff. Again, if you want to talk...IM me on aim at Bachm37.
