Hey I was wondering how much it might cost me to take out any tiny dings on the bell of my horn, or anywhere else for that matter. It's nothing that affects the playability at all, just cosmetic. I'm pretty meticulous when I'm cleaning it and these things just really tick me off. Thanks...

The cost will depend directly on where you have the work done, and on the the number and depth of the dents and dings. I haven't had any individual defect work done recently but I had my old cornet (made in 1953) completely restored including replacement of the leadpipe, straigtening a flat place on the bell, removal of half a dozen smaller dents, new spit valve corks and springs, new valve felts, and complete stripping of the old lacquer, chemical clean, polish and new lacquer for $300. So I would expect removal of a few small dents to run between $25 and $75.

Oops! I left the "h" out of "straightening".

The main tunning slide on my Jean Baptiste snapped. It is a piece of garbage, but I could believe it snapped when I pulled the slide out to re-grease it.
