Yes.
Practice, practice, practice. There are no shortcuts.
Try adding vibrato on the notes you can play.
Lip slurs will help too.

I agree, practice is the only way to achieve those goals. But can someone explain to me what the different notes are called? like for example, the C with one ledger line above the staff is a high C but what about the G under it? is it a high G? and the G above it is a double high G? please explain!!

Whitefox, what you're telling himt o do is pinch the notes out.
that's bad
Just practice long tones in the upper part of the range you have. You'll be fine. it takes time.

My band teacher also told me that blowing fast air through your lips helps. When I play it helps a lot. If you blow hard, it'll just make a blasting ugly sound.

While it's true that there is no substitute for practice, there are methods that will help you achieve your goal & methods that will hold you back. I use the Balanced Embouchure program by Jeff Smiley. Nothin else worked, even when I was a serious music student in college. Took me till I was a granny to find something that really works for me. ~Valerie in Tacoma

While the book someone else suggested (don't feel like going back to look) is nice, try a Clake's Technical Studies for Cornet to go with it.
It has lots of lip slur technical runs that really give your lips a workout.
I use this book and the Arban's conservative method in ym private lessons.
There are no instant solutions.
Practice 30 mins a day.
If you're a TV-aholic (hopefully you're not) then that's only one show you're missing. Most of the sitcoms that are 30 mins suck anyway, lol.
Lip slurs.
Lots oflip slurs.
For the original poster, since he's up into high register already, do octave lip slurs.

haha great advice... but I think it's called Arban's Complete Conservatory Method for Trumpet. not 'Arban's Conservative'... that's sounds kinda weird.

...As you know conservative and conservatory mean two different things...

OH and as for 'pinching the notes' ... I've been practicing playing really high up with tight lips, but I think that that's no worse for your ambouchure than playing another instrument at the same time as the trumpet. I also work on my very low range, (like an octave below middle C) to sort of even it out. I can't yet play a scale up very high without changing my ambouchure from regular, to 'pinching' but it's just one way to get high notes. not the best tone quality, but the notes are there.

I'm a freshman, a percussionist originally, but that got to easy, so I started trumpet as well. I could play a Bb above the staff within a few weeks of starting my first brass instrument... I guess I just have cool lips or something. The first trumpets in my freshman Jazz Band have all been playing for 2 and a half years now, and they can hit a high D above the staff. Is that really high for having played that long?
