Now, when I first got this book(6 months ago I believe), my trumpet teacher told me that this would be my "bible" for technique, tone production, etc. I thought this to be superfluous at first. My opinion was changed howver, when I did some reading of the considerable text Mr. Arban had left in the book.
I think that the Arban's trumpet book is extremely helpful for beginning and advanced trumpet players. The commentary has really helped me to understand certain trumpet techniques and the exercises can really give you a work out. Definitely the trumpet bible.
This book helps me in all ways. Whatever you are looking for to improve upon, the Arban's book has it. It has helped me greatly and I haven't even used it on a regular basis. It has sooooo many lip exercises that will give you better intonation and better support. After I used it I feel more confident site reading and such. It 'is' a Bible for trumpets.
i hav an arbans and i luv it, however i have found that some of the things that arbans says are the complete opposite of what many of the professional trumpeters that i know say. but arbans rocks!!
I still use this method book, and I've been playing for 43 years. You gotta love it, and you can never give it up.
My copy has additional notes from a guy named Rafael Mendez. He was one of the great ones back in the day. He was an amazing player in his day - movies, orchestras, even had a recording contract with Decca.
every trumpet in my school has arbans this one kid gut his upgraded so it is ringed instead of a normal binding and it has a silver cover. One day we were outside and he had it and it being the trumpet bible he was reflecting the light into a whole bunch of people telling them to see the light
