Ok, so I have been playing for about five years now and have a good idea of what I am doing. I always tune with the regular tuning slide and use the 3rd slide. I am not exactly sure which notes to use the first slide on. Which notes do you adjust to with the slide??? Please be specific. Thanks

do you mean the slide that usually has the ring on it? if so you use it when you play a low below the staff C# basically you pull it out with your ring or middle finger because the C# is usually out of tune on a trumpet if you noticed it feels strange when you play a C# and then a C

hope this helps ^__^ lol and if not i just wasted some space

No the slide with the thumb saddle on it. The 1st valve slide.

It is used mainly for As and Es with combination 1&2. High A is usually sharp, so pull out the slide to fix the pitch. Some trumpets, like mine, are sharp on low E, so I use it for that too.

Do you have a private teacher? If you did I am sure you would not be wondering what notes to use the first slide for.

I do have a private teacher. The only thing I dont know is which notes to use the 1st slide with. I know all about the third slide, and I use it when necessary.

just the 1st slide

Well.....Some older proffesional trumpet such as conn don't have a first slide saddle because some proffesionals believe it is needed.

Butit really just varies form person to person. I would say use it for low C#(along with the third slide), and the A in the staff. Some people also use it for the A above the staff also(I do). Use yours ears.....you should be able to tell what is out of tune and use the slide to adjust.
