Im thinking about getting a new trumpet and i know this is sort of a new topic around here. so i was thinking about the Bach Strad, but i heard they arent that great anymore or whatnot. Or a Yamaha Xeno, and then theres the Schilke B-5 trumpet which i have no clue about. Im going to try all of them out so im just asking about a general idea. Thank you!
The Bachs all mainly have good reputations from what I hear. The older ones are supposedly made better than the ones now, so you can get a really nice older on online on ebay and such. Even if you do go for a newer Strad, it isnt't necessarily a bad decision. You should try the instrument out before you buy it of course, but online you can't do that. Ebay has some nice ones though. Definitely go for a professional trumpet.
A professional trumpet might not be the best option for you, be because you have given us no INFORMATION.
How long have you been playing?
How old are you?
What trumpet do you have right now?
Do you have a private teacher?
The best thing to do if you are wanting to buy a new trumpet is to go to a music store that has a lot of different brands and TRY THEM ALL, and bring your teacher along to listen and give you feedback on which one sounds best. Then when you have found the trumpet that you like the best either buy it there, or find it online(ebay).
It is true that the quality of Bach right now is very inconsistent, but they are still excellent instruments, you just have to try a lot of them to find the "one".
It is always a safe bet to but a used Bach off ebay.
About a year ago I purchased a 1984 Bach Stradivarius 180S/43 off ebay for $700. It is an excellent instrument.
I tryed a Bach 43 at a local music store first before buying it on ebay.
Never buy a trumpet without trying it first.
I think Bach Strads are the best. I have a King trumpet and it is really great and I love it.It has a good tone and has a really good sound. The Yamaha Zenos are really good too.
