I need help! I played the trumpet for about 5 years when I was in H.S. and middle school. But I stopped playing for 10 years, and I started playing again 4 months ago. I play for my church with a organist and drummer who really can't help me. I read some of the tutorials on this site and read some forums. Which was helpful, but I can't go back to school to learn how to play again. What should I do?

Well getting a pretty good teacher will definately help i strongly suggest getting one mainly because you need someone there to help you that's something tutorials can never do. And perhaps buying the Arban's book to help with your technique as well. Also start practicing daily to build back up your chops and all that good stuff ^__^ good luck!

CP12 has the ticket for you, youngster. I dropped out for a while, too, but I always kept the mouthpiece close by. (Great way to keep the muscles limber and toned.)

Strat with the basics, like you did when you first picked it up. Do the simple stuff, and definitely get the Arban's book.

"Ah, Grasshoppah, when you can play through the entire Arban's book, you will be ready to leave us..."

Probably datin gmyself too much with that little jimmy. Anyway, just do the basics and you'll be surprised at how things will come back. Muscle has memory, and your chops are muscle.

Be cool!
