Okay...here's the deal. I've been playing trumpet since 6th grade (about 4 years) and I got braces this summer. I've definately got used to the braces and they hardly give me trouble anymore. But right now I'm using a 3C mouthpeice and I didn't know if there were would be a different kind that I should use that might make playing a little easier? I'm lead trumpet in our band and I was hoping someone would have some advice!

Thanks!

Hi,

Some players find that moving to a larger mouthpiece provides a bit more comfort. The other option is to try Wedge mouthpiece, which is curved to cup over the braces and take the pressure off them. If it is not better than your current mouthpiece it does come with a money back guarantee.

Cheers,

Same situation for me when I was in JH, try a 1.5 C. It was like night and day for me, it felt so comfortable and when i got my braces off, all i had to do was change from 1.5 C to 1.25 C, it was such an easy transition. Although depending on your lip shape/strength, it could be different for you.

Best Wishes
