Snakes are designed to clean a trumpet and will not harm it in any way. The stuff inside your instrument which is green or blue is a buildup of copper oxide, which bassically means your trumpet is eating through itself. If you want to break your trumpet, leaving it to be completely corroded is a great way to do that. Get a snake and clean it out.

im telling u a snake will harm it really bad. My trumpet teacher has a friend who works on instrument repair. she tells me if i want to get it out i can do one of 3 things. I cant drop it off at the shop (which i did today) put in a warm bath tub with detergent or take it in the shower and let the water go through the bell.
