My 12 yr. old has just started taking guitar lessons. She is learning cords. I took her to 2 local music stores to look for an easy book of songs and neither had anything appropriate for a beginner 12 yr. old. They told me they could order me anything I want. I have been looking on line but I am not sure which is a good beginner book. I am looking for simple songs she could practice, not lessons. Any suggestions on where to start would be really appreciated. Any help to point us in the right direction would be really appreciated.
Thanks,
Vicki
i started playing when i was about 9ish and i'm 15
the book i started out w/ was called Hal Leonard Guitar Method Book One
it starts out w/ the basic fingerings, and short easy songs and progresses to chords and harder songs
this book has lots of other books by the same guy likeblues guitar, country guitar, jazz guitar, rock guitar and lots of others
i really recomend getting this book
you can probably find it at Shenandoah Music or G&M Music
I got mine @ shenadoah music

Well, I am not sure of any books. But I know that there is just about any song you could think of at www.azchords.com. Also, if you go to google and type in "learn guitar" , I believe the first entry is the one you should go to. Anyway, its Dan Cross, and its online guitar lessons, through text and pictures (free), and at the end of each lesson he has songs posted that correspond with that lesson. Hope that helped!
when I started playin at age 6 i found: the guitarist's way book 1-3. was really good to get my ability going, but theres no chord stuff in there i think
