Anyone else think so? Not that I'm complaining, but it seems that us drum majors have a purpose other than leading the band....we get blamed for the band's behavior. Scapegoats. Agree or Disagree?

I don't know about your school, but at my school, the drum majors NEVER seam to get into trouble. Drum majors should lead the band with posiative attituds (I sound like my mom!) and not just with rythm. It has been my dream to be a drum major. But I don't think it will ever happen.

I highly disagree. A drum major is just like one of the band directors, and therefore has more responsibilities. One of these includes having TOTAL control over the band, especially when the director is not there. If the band starts to goof off, or not listen, it should be your obligation to get everyone back on track. Im assuming that you are talking about when the director is not present, but even then, a drum major has the authority to correct behavior and bring up any issues to the director. Im not saying be a huge stickler on behavior, but i feel that one of the drum majors most important jobs is controlling the band.
