I have been playing music ever since the age of 3, with my mother teaching me to play simple tunes on the piano since before i could walk almost. Its been 15 years since i first started and i have come to realised that music is just a part of me, and now its coming to my final assesment year at school before i make the leap to tetiary education. Just recently my trom teacher really made me think about what i have in store for the future. And now I am asking myself, why do i play? So far in my life its just been a part of me and now, on the brink of deciding my future, i fail to see the reason behind why i play, i feel that there is something missing.
I would love it so much if someone, anyone could give me advice as to what my playing might be missing? Have any of you gone through similar situations?
Music is a part of me and something i do not want to give up so if anyone can give me any advice i would be truly grateful

I know exactly what you are saying. Unfortunately, no one can give you advice on this. This is something you must figure out for yourself. Yes, you are now at the point in life where it is time to go with your own decisions, and evaluate your life for yourself. Do what your soul and heart is telling you to do. You will find out what to do with your gift. "Your gift will make room for you."
Ask yourself: "Do you love music? Could you really just drop your instrument, walk away, and not look back? Do you see yourself happy in a different field?"
Think about what you want in your life, the outcome of what you choose, and the benefits/consequences of your decisions. Remember-you'll never work a day in your life if you choose a career that you love.
