I'm thinking about getting my band teacher a nice gift thanking him for all he's done for me in the past four years... but I don't know what to get him. He's not a suit and tie kinda guy and he doesn't drink coffee. I don't really want to get him like music pencils or a mouse pad with a treble clef on it or something "normal". He plays the trumpet. Maybe you can give me some ideas.
haha... my band teacher doesn't have to much hair, so I don't think hair care products would suit him. I know he likes pizza, but I don't know what else he snacks on. Today, he just gave me this "Honorable Band Student" award.
If you really want to do something you might get him a gift card at any place.
A Restaurant or something.
Typically I would discourage anything other than a group gift. A personal gift, as much as you like, can give off the appearance of inpropriety.
does he still play an instrument, perhaps you can buy him some really nice reeds, but I agree w/ john that it migh give an improper impression, so think your situation through, ok!
Does he record concerts? If he doesn't, have someone record a concert, then give him a boot.

What else is he interested in? My band director ia golf freak -even though he stinks- *Cough cough*- and for christmas, my friend actually gave him a 12-pack of costomized golfballs.
If it's not music related, just get him a gift like you would any other teacher. You can't go wrong with gift cards.
