I`m just looking at this practice book I`ve got to look at before I go for my Grade 1 theory test, but I`m confused on a question and I need some help!
I have 8 bars of a piece of music in G Major, and the first note is a `B` (middle of the stave). The question asks "Which degree of the scale does the melody start on?"
My guess would be 3, because `G` to `B` is two tones up, but if you count the `G` then you get `G, A, B," ergo 3.
