I have been playing recorder for 5 years now and i play soprano, alto, tenor, and bass. I am going to a new school and they do not offer it as an option. I am considering playing the saxiphone or the clarinet. Any help on which to choose?

Since you play all the recorders, you should not have a problem with going to either saxophone or clarinet, as the soprano/tenor recorder fingerings are similar to saxophone and alto/bass are similar to clarinet. At this point it should be a personal preference. What sound do you like better?

Shut up Gracy. Recorder is not just for little kids. Perhaps you better go back to your little Fisher Price Xylophone as Recorder 101 and I create extremely challenging, interesting music on our wonderful Renaissance-era recorders.

First, I agree, recorder is a great instrument to start out on, and second, gosh people, type out your swear words. What are you, four?
Ass, bitch. It was simple. Oh and gracy, next time you have a thought, just let it go.

Gracy: Would you mind telling me a few of the songs that you played? I will guarantee that you played out of a lesson book with common folk tunes in it. You may have played some songs that you got the note names for on this website. I guarantee that you did not play in an ensemble containing the entire family of recorders. I guarantee that you did not play genuine Renaissance music with perfect fourths and fifths all over the place. More than likely, the music you played was all one part, meaning everyone played the exact same thing. There would have been no harmonies.

Recorder101, I`m glad that you found our posts helpful. I wish you luck with whatever instrument you choose.
