Something very cool, (but not necessarily as flashy as Bumblebee) is No More Blues. You can hear it recorded on Four of a Kind, and on No More Blues by The Bones Apart quartet. you can find it at www.firebirdeditions.com
also if you want to amaze them with pretty instead of fancy, consider Ave Maria available from the same site.
If you want something pretty challenging, try Myths and Legends by Eric Ewazen
some other good places to shop for quartets
www.tapmusic.com
www.warwickmusic.com
www.hickeys.com
www.hip-bonemusic.com
as a side note... I would rather hear some really well played Bach chorales over a poorly played fancy piece any day. Don't focus on how flashy the piece is... focus on how good you want to play it. Many of those "simpler" pieces are way harder than they seem.

thanks a lot! i actually agree that the seemingly simpler pieces can be such a challenge and when played well sound GORGEOUS. I'll definitely check those out!

A prime example is a tune called August written by Michael Davis. It's very pretty, nothing very technical, but man, the voicings just make it a real pain in the but to tune! It looks so easy at first glance, but to get it in tune, and get the phrasing right is much harder than you'd think. If you're interested in hearing it , it's on a cd called Absolute Trombone available from www.hip-bonemusic.com
a very worthwhile purchase for any trombone fan.

thank you so much! we've decided to play Ave Maria for a competition and something else that we havent decided yet. we'll probably purchase no more blues as something to work towards though. Those sites are awesome!!!!
