I got a trombone yesterday, and they're just awesome!! I can't play much but I love it already. Especially growling into them! I think my range is pretty good for a beginner - low Bb, to a C above middle C.
But Im' wondering, how many open positions are there from the embouchere alone?
Also, should I get lessons, cos I'm finding it hard to teach myself.

It's actually infinite. It all depends on the the player. (There is a much more technical answer, if you want it PM me.)

ABSOLUTELY! It will pay off, believe me. I've been playing for many years, and I play for a living, and I still take lessons.
I agree that it's a cool instrument! What infulenced me was an amazing trombonist from the army. He just looked soo cool! And trombones are amazing anyway!!
