I am a flute player, trumpet player, saxophone player, and a drummer, (and more). So when I asked my parents if I could get a trombone, it was no suprise. They said I could, if I payed for it, and I am nearly broke. I am looking for a trombone that would mainly be used at home and not in a ensemble setting, maybe once a week at church. Any ideas where I could get one?

Go to your local music store and try out their used horns. You might be able to get a cheap used intermediate or student trombone. If you're to buy a used student model, be sure it is in good condition, because they often come out of schools and though they may look fine at first, they sometimes hide bad surprises.
Yamaha makes some great student models (and intermediate Bb/F), incredible quality for the price. I think their basic student model (354 or something like that) is about 900$ new. King 606 is another good student horn I can think of, as well as the Bach intermediates, which may be more expensive though.

The Holton 602 trombone is a really good student instrument. Great for learning as most of thier instruments are.If you are new to trombone playing this can be a great insturment to learn on.
The bores, and venturi are designed specfifically for a student to help you hit the correct notes more easily. You will never get the professioanl sound of a professional instrument, but as a beginer you don't have the werewithall to get the professional sound anyway. A top professional model instrument would be very difficult for a beginer to play.
The Holton 602 sells new for around $500-600 USD, Use din good condition for $200 - $300 USD.
