Hi,
I was wondering if a Euros Giddings and Webster mouthpiece is worth buying for my 5.25-5.47 dual bore. I have tried all the mouthpieces( small shank) except there Euros and I really like the sound and feeling of the Stainless steel but, I also really like the size of the 5g bach too. My only concern is the that on the G and W website, I've talked to Ivan too, is that the throat is bigger on the Euros than the 5g.

Thanks for any comments

I don't know specifics about the G&W bone mouthpieces but here is what effect a larger throat will have:

You will be able to play louder before the sound begins to get "edgy". The ability to play softly is increased with the larger throat, although less efficient.

With a larger throat there will be more need to be sure you are supporting properly or your sound will come out thin. Because you are pushing more air through the horn you will fatigue more quickly and will have to work on your higher notes more to keep them.

But man oh man the dark dark sound you can get will make you fall in love with your insrtument all over again and you will want to practice all the time. (If you like dark succulant sounds)

It is a very nice mouthpiece got it 5 days after I posted this thread and only now am I able to use it to its potential( as of playing it for a month =D). I've definitely seen a difference between this mouthpiece and my 5gs because I can actually hit the higher notes more clearly, intonations are better on stainless, and tone quality is way better( more open full sound).

I think I'll stick with G and W with stainless steel over Loud.

Thanks for comment

Justin
