I am going to start college in a little over 5 weeks. I am planning on auditioning for the school jazz band. One of the audition requirments is to play a jazz etude that is about 1 min. Does anyone have any suggestions. I have been playing trombone for 9 years, so I can probably handle something with a reasonable level of difficulty.

I have an unaccompanied euphonium and/or bassoon piece, approx 90 seconds' duration. Mainly 8th notes, legato, jazz-influenced harmonies, written to be played "straight" by straight-ish musicians, could definitely be given a "ballad" interpretation by a jazz player. A short cadenza would fit in well at the end. It sits slightly low – would probably be better transposed up a tone or two.
Anyhow, if it sounds like it might be a go, I'd be more than happy to send you the PDF (gratis). If you'd like to leave an address here or email me on ...
