Does anyone have an idea for a 7 person trombone section cheer for like pep band/stand cheer? I would like to compose something but I just don't have anything really in my mind, or the time to do it...so does anyone know of anything I might be able to "steal" it?

Are you guys over the Super Mario phenomenon yet? If not, here's a trombone trio version with a (blurry!!) score. Check the "Related Videos" as well.

There are a whole lot more YouTube trombone pep links here.

I had already heard a recording of the Adagio by a trombone choir...anyway, yeah definately one of the most beautiful things I can think of.

Yeah – sounds absolutely mighty!

(Don't know if it works as a pep number though ~lol~)

no, not that at all...I still don't know what there is..everything is just..generic, well, what there is out there as far as little cheers...but whatever...anyone have any cheer ideas even to work off of? I'm more of the classical, not marching band raw raw stuff, as far as coming up with music.

I just happened to come across a website featuring the music of Robert Linn (1925-1999) ... http://www.robertlinn.org/robertlinn_cds.htm ... while I was chasing up his Concerto for Soprano Saxophone and Wind Ensemble.

If you're into something fairly "outside", you might enjoy Trombosis for Twelve Trombones, composed in 1979. (Scroll halfway down the page for the mp3.) It's not going to be for everybody or for every occasion, but (fwiw) I think it's terrific!

<brainwave> I wouldn't mind having a go at writing something – "pep" style, I'd say, as in your original posting. Have you got a reasonably specific brief? </brainwave>

Dude - if your trombones are good enough you might be interested in Frankie and Johnny available from warwick music. Its for 8 trombones but i'm using it for 7 bones so I'm just ignoring part 6. www.youtube.com/watch?v=opsnxymAjDc

I thought of a neat arrangement for a pep band or something of the like. Everyone knows the 20th Century Fox Movie Opening, that'd be awesome, anyone else think so too?

You'll never guess what I found!

20th Century Fox Fanfare for trombones

With seven bones, it looks like you'd use 3 on the top line and 2 on each of the other lines, dividing as necessary.

Why wait? Why not just learn it now? And why just one?

Realistically, you should be sight reading something every time you practice. Every time. Just choose one of those and make it a project. I usually have a just for fun project going at all times. Right now it's the Ralph Sauer arrangement of Brahms' Cello Sonata No. 1. Next I think I'll try to tackle Creston's Fantasy. Or work more on Carmen.

The point is, don't put off something you want to do. Just do it!
