I know that this forum isn't completely dead. It's just been a bit slow lately. So I started a thread.

So, does anyone have anything to brag about? Important gigs coming up? Students doing good/bad things?

Well...I think this qualifies as something to brag about.

Last week I got a package from Sweden that had Christian Lindberg's new documentary dvd and it was autographed. A month before I got this package CL ran a marathon and had a contest where the top ten winners get a signed version of his dvd. I was in the top ten, and I now have a signed object from one of the best classical trombonists out there!

I ranted about this in a previous post too, I was very excited to have something that was written on by Lindberg, haha.

Cool. Lindbergh is a great player. I don't have a whole lot to brag about right now. My students are getting better. (except my 4:30 student is sick today) I'm getting better. So that's good.

Yes he is. It's always good to improve, if only a small bit every day (which is the case for me, haha).

I'm now in 3 orchestras, and I'll be auditioning for a new orchestra which will only be active during summer. I'm passing another audition in a few days at the Montreal Conservatory. Oh, and I'm going to Germany for two weeks in August with one of my orchestras. We'll be playing 4 or 5 concerts, including one in Berlin at the Konzerthaus (!!!).

Wow, Le Tromboniste. That's pretty awesome. And forgive my ignorance, Mad Cow. Southern Miss sounds like an extemely good music school.

<Added>

I just looked at the music part of the Southern Miss website. Very impressive.

i am so excited about going there. alot of well renound band directors and players around here (florida) got their degree there. I even went to a summer camp at LSU and all they could talk about was how their biggest compotiting was Southern Miss. Which was funny because at the moment i was tring to decide between the two.

hey if you get a chance to visit the site agin check out the tromboe studio page. there is alot of literacher and Dr. Tychinski wrote some great daily rotines for diferent levels of players

Wow, that's very impressive that Southern Miss is LSU's biggest competition.

I'll be sure to check out the trombone studio website again.

To brag, I was in Kentucky's Governor's school for the Arts last summer, first weekend in April I received 1st place in the North american brass band's youth solo competition after palying Erik-Larsson's Concertino (3rd movement), I impressed Doug Yeo (who was there in the audience, and the professor of James Madison University and probably more, but I didn't really get to speak with anyone but the two. Also a couple of days before that I was accepted to marching in the Macy's Day Parade in the All-American Marching Band for this year's parade, and I'm going to do it.

Bravo. Those are some hefty feats. I've heard of the All-American Macy's Marching band, but don't know much about it. It sound really fun though.

from what they sent me, the schedule and such, it should be...touring NY and such. downside, I have to come up with $1339 and also the morning of thanksgiving, while most people are asleep at 2Am, we'll be departing the hotel and at 4am, rehearsal on the street begins...but, I think it'll be worth it.
