Playing tombone has been cool i only played it for like a semester in marching band im i`m passing up all the older member muahaha well anyway if u join a marching band it will help to get your breathing right and your lung capacity will be better, all city marching band took alot (7.5 miles of high stepping :.() you will be blistered but it will definetly pay off because their you practice about 6 hours a day and have other people(87) that can help u with anything you need for the trombone, also wash it every 2 weeks

yeah jo heres a tip for you and all of those trombonists out there keep a good ombisure (i dont know how to spell it so forgive me)and spread your jaw to get the best out of your sound. use a ton of air to and if you feel like passing out do breathing exersizes to get you used to it. one last thing that you might already do lick your lips berfore you put your mouth peice so you have a nice clean buzz

you mean midle c? or low c? There could be very diferent solutions depending on the problem.

Does it sound "woofy" or unclear? is the tone feel under but when you use a tuner your prety darn close? what horn/mouthpiece you using?

how about pinched or nasal?

When you start notes like the first note of a song how is the attack? a clear crisp start or do they kind of grow out of thin air or do they start out of focus then you bring them back?

that`s cool your friend is teaching you but when you get a little older and you are sure your going to stick with the trom you might consider getting a trombone teavher at like local music stores it really helps a lot becaause they help u and can show you stuf and give you new music and books and lots of cool stuff
