We just had a Maynard Ferguson concert here in Portland Oregon tonight, man was it good! Also, the trombone player, Reggie Watkins, was amazing! 3 hours of bliss!

If you ever get to see these guys in person, the $20 ticket charge is worth every penny. Maynard doesn`t have many years left in him, go see em!

I saw Maynard and his Big Bop Neveou Band three years ago. It was a great concert. Although he is a legend in his own right, i was almost worried for the guy, thought they might have to bring up and oxygen tank on stage, but he is been goin at it for decades now. One of the better concerts I have been to. Brought some other styles of music into. It was good through and though.

Ya, I saw him in Richland on Tuesday. Most impressive were his lead trumpet, drummer, and pianist. Maynard himself really sucked. All he did was play loud and ugly, and not even that high. The worst was when he did the opera piece for his encore. Nice ballad and he sounded like a lawnmower.

Dude, the guy is what? 70-something. He should be almost dead, he`s doing really well for his age. If you don`t like what he`s doing... don`t go?

Maynard was suppose to be at Lamar on Sunday (1/30) but it was cancelled. Now, I am scrambeling for San Jac tickets for the 29th. Man, I hope I am able to see him. The web page says that it is SOLD OUT.

On a second note, I noticed he has a live DVD out. So of course, I had ta `ave it! Can`t wait `til it gets here.

Also, Bobby Shew will be in Nawlins 4/10-11 (Music Festival). Awesome!

3 tenors to a soprano, thats a pretty dramatic difference... When do you use your soprano?

The Jazz combo I`m in doen`t have a trumpet player, so I use it on some carts. I can improv on it better than a valved trumpet, helps me feel the notes I guess (also, tuning is alot easier)
