I e-mailed Chris and asked for an extention of the seven day trial. I have just ordered the new strings, and I will let you know how it all goes.
Thanks for all your help.

I took the guts off the Roth (Eudoxa I think) and put them on the Gliga. They sounded almost the same as the Dominants, but with a more even tone across the strings. I have ordered the Evah Pirazzis, but based my decision on this.......It seems that each time I play both instruments, I prefer the one that I picked up first. However, the Gliga seems to be easier to play and has a deeper (or darker) tone to it. The finish on the Gliga is much nicer, and it cost much less !! When I get the new strings, I have no doubt that it will sound fantastic.
On another note.....I have had only a couple responses from violinslover (Chris) and have sent several e-mails throughout the whole process of buying this violin. But you Liz...from way across the ocean....have been a tremendous help. Always there at your computer ready to respond regardless of when I send a message. Amazing....you deserve a comission !!!

Ah well Ken, I live on the internet, that`s the thing Seriously, I met my husband on the internet, we work on the internet, we spend a lot of our free time on the internet (yeah yeah OK I should be practising!!), in short, we`re a pair of sad internet junkies

I haven`t tried Eudoxas on a Gliga. I have tried obligatos on a Gliga viola and, although they`re pretty nice, I find myself wishing evahs were made for viola. But they`re not.

I think you`ll like the Evahs: they gives the Gligas a little more volume and the range of dynamics is quite staggering: ppppp and so on that would give you little more than bow hair noise with dominants will actually float a beautiful ppppp note with the Evahs.

Got my Evah Pirazzi strings today. WOW !! What a differende. Clean, clear and EXTREMELY responsive. Much greater volume too. Great reccomendation. Thanks.

Chris did finally e-mail back to offer an exttension of the trial period, however, I had already decided to keep the Gliga.

Well....it`s been a month already since I got my Gliga. I can`t say I have any regrets. It seems to sound better as each day passes (deeper and richer), and I don`t think that I have ever played as often as I do now !!!! In short.....I love it !!

I found that the Pirastro Zyex works best for me. I am going to try Helicore next to see how they are.

Thanks for all the support from this forum

They actually cost less than Evah Pirazzi !!!!! Incidentally, I have a set of Evahs that I used for only a couple days. E mail me directly (ken99@adelphia.net) if interested in them and I will mail them off to you. Hate to see them go to waste.

I bought a "beautiful" Gliga Maestro in the spring and the sound gets better each month, wonderful ranges and deep tones. I use Hilicore Strings. This violin has the sound of those costing twice as much, I would recommend highly.

Wow, Ken, I just got some and put them on my Gliga viola. What an enormous improvement over obligatos! Many thanks for the suggestion!

Noticed all the talk abouit Gliga instruments and am fascinated that they have 17.5" violas. I have a Czech viola of 17 3/8" which I love. Does anyone have any experince with the 17.5 Gliga violas?
