Hi I am an engineer by trade and one day I got talking to a friend of mine who plays the violin (semi professionally) he told me about the difficulty of bowing straight and we have ended up launching this product : www.bowzo.co.uk now I know the website is ruff but this is still very early days for us, just looking for a little feedback about the product?

Thanks!

Oh lord, do give it up.

It doesn't get at the real cause of bad bowing, whcih is not improved merely through kinesthetic feedback but also by position and motion. The feedback from that device, without appropriate interpretation, will not a better bow arm make.

Bowing is a complex triple articulation which needs to be learned from the body out, not from the strings back. The wrist is the parallelogram rule portion, and the elbow and shoulder are the two extensors. Furthermore, the contact point is not simply where you put it. It is sometimes appropriate to be farther out or closer in than that.

And I haaven't even mentioned arm levels yet.

Just another gadget, to suck up money and waste time. And put the student's perspective in a narrow frame. That device screams out "I am important!" which is distracting. *evereything* is important. So get rid of the devices and focus pon good teaching.

BTW I am an engineer, too.
