minuet is VERY nice if u get the real version. from magor(cant spell) to minor, its wonderful. though, if ur just starting, it could deffinately be to hard. though it is a easy song, playing it right could be tricky.

Azure Alien, I have been playing for about 2 years now and I happen to love Ashokan Farewell. I have 1 version of it that I got from my violin teacher, but then I saw the version in the link you posted. It is much too easy for me and you said you had a much more advanced version. I was wondering if you could post that version for me.
Thanks!

I suggest suzuki too, it makes you feel really good about yourself! its also really easy to pickup because you don't have to be any good at reading music, i couldn't when i started on suzuki and know i can sightread quite well. try taking lessons too and if you can find old music books. i have one by a guy called kerr and its scottish reels strathspeys and irish jigs.

I got a book full of Irish and Scottish music. Some songs are harder then others, but I really like the songs in the book. Very melodic and you can play them as fast as you want

It is probably not the best idea to teacher yourself. I did that and it really messed me up. I contacted www.musikalessons.com and they got me all straightened out. Good luck!

could you make copies of some of those songs and email/send some to me??
thanks for the web site, I will try and check it out. I just started some violin lessons with my music teacher so I am not teaching meself that much any more. But what I do do is, since I have not been able to find my music that my teacher gave me, I listen to a slow/med. song and I try and play it by ear. I have got a few songs down but they are hymus (sp) and I would like so scottish or other music to play.
Thanks again ya'all,
Natalie
