Does anyone know the name of the song that was popular on the radio a few years ago? it had a beautiful violin solo in the middle of it.

one that I can think of (it's most likely not to be the one that you're thinking of) was Good Riddance, by Greenday. It has a really nice violin solo in the middle, and I'm not sure how old it is, though.
