Hi folks, I'm new to this forum so I'm still getting used to it!
All I want to know is that I'm sixteen and during my secondary school years (just left school) I never had a chance to learn how to play the violin because me and my family moved so many times. However now we are not moving again I was wandering, am I to old to learn how to play the violin?

No you are not. Although I have to ask you, have you studied Music before?

But, apart from that question, no you are not too late, I started 9 months ago and I can play some Begginer's Vivaldi's Spring with ease, I may be able to play some Mid pieces already. My advice is to practice all days, and practice several hours per day, at least one hour. The begging is kinda slow, but trust it's worth the effort.

Thanks. I have studied music, mainly the piano, in early secondary school years. I never got a chance to play the violin earlier beacause my dad was in the forces so we moved alot, but we've settled now and were not moving again.

I say you have just a good a chance at learning as anyone else. You are never too old to learn something. And having played the piano before, the experience with music should make learning just that much easier for you.

Good luck!

Yep, the Piano is my main instrument, it's honestly the best option to any Begginer, and it really helps you with other instruments.

So yeah, if you have studied music before, you won't have so many problems, specially because you know how to read the Music Sheets.

So Very Bad Luck and I hope you enjoy the Violin as much as I do!

(Bad Luck means Good Luck here xD)

<Added>

Note: I said the Piano is the best option to any begginer because you use both the G clef and the F clef, a pianist will only have some trouble reading the C clef, which is used by Violists.

You are never too late to learn any instrument. Learn and play for you !.

I was thinking like you . But when i read from a website violinwizard.com under the faq section i got confidence enough to start .

Good luck!!!
