My fingers aren't very chubby, but the tips of my fingers are wide. I'm worried that this will affect my playing as I get more advanced. I've only been playing for about 5 months, so I probably don't have to worry about it just yet, but if I want to pick up fiddling, do you think this will be a problem?

i have chubby fingers and kind of wide tops. it hasn't effected my playing and i play both classical and fiddle and have played for five years. it jsut means that you have to jam your fingers together a bit more or really practice independent fingering, which can get you easily out of tune without lots of practicing. its not really a problem

my teacher has chubby and wide fingers and he doesnt have any problems. I'm sure he learned to adjust his fingers accordingly if he had any tuning problems. if you see any problems then just adjust them the best you can. remember to always place the tips of your fingers on the strings, not the prints.

Maybe since you have been playing for only five months,
your fingers aren't yet used to playing fast or doing vibrato quite yet.
I'd say CHILL...I've seen so many weird fingers that play violin like it's the easiest thing that ever happened to them.
Even people who don't have all of their fingers..
if fiddling is what you want to do, then chase your dream....
