Hi everybody,

I've played violin for about a year now, and I've progressed quite nicely. I'm 5 feet 2 inches right now and my violin teacher used a measuring stick and the 4/4 measure is right in the middle of my palm, so she says I;m ready for a 4/4 violin. I want something that doesn't overpower me, but I do want something I won't advance out of too quickly. I showed my violin teacher a website selling violins, stringworks.com, and she is impressed by it.

The violin I'm interested in purchasing is this one:
http://stringworks.com/mall/violinmaestro.asp

Does anyone have any comments on this violin as to why it may not be the right choice? Thanks!

Hey, I've got that violin! It's awesome, I definitely recommend it. It's very playable, had a great sound (kinda dark for a violin with the right strings) - my teacher was very impressed by it. Plus, stringworks has a two-week trial period, so you don't lose anything by testing it out. Go for it!

Thanks! I really like the dark sound, which strings or string combinations make the dark sound?
