Hey guys! I'm new to this website and I had a question;
I have been playing violin for around three years now,
I play in the school orchestra. Recently, my bow broke.
Since I'm no longer taking lessons, I haven't been able
to ask my teacher what bow to buy, and since it's summer
I can't reach my orchestra director. So I'm kinda lost.
My question is, what type of bow should I buy according to my
experience. I know everyone has different preferences to bows and such; But I was hoping that someone could maybe tell me of
a decent brand to look out for, or just a decent bow.
P.S. I've been looking at K. Holtz and Glasser, are they good?
I can't pay too much, 120$ max.
It seems that glasser isn't really recommended. Finding a really good bow in your price range will be difficult. My best advice is to go to your nearest strings shop and try out a few different ones. Find one that is comfortable for you to hold and easy for you to move across the strings. You can also ask the luthier at the shop for his help. He should be able to direct you to an appropriate bow for your needs.
