So I've got this problem with my tuning pegs. They get stuck. You can tune the violin to a point but then the tuning pegs wont go any further. I've tried to drip some light machine oil in the little holes and that did help a little, but not completely. Has anyone got a good advice?

My teacher advised me to rub a pencil on the pegs if they get stuck or rosin if they slip.

Hi, if by tuning pegs you mean the pegs up by the scroll, then you can consider the above suggestions, however, it almost seems like you are talking about your fine tuners (down on the tail piece) If this is the case, they are only meant to make fine tuning adjustments, and will only turn so far. To make larger adjustments, you should use the pegs near the scroll.

You can use peg drops. or slightly pull the pegs until they can turn more

Hey everyone, To get your tuning pegs unstuck, you can loosen them by pulling on them slightly, however, if you do this you will have to retune and the event that they may get stuck again is predominantly your main issue. To counteract the presented confliction you will have to keep tuning it up until you get to the note you want, get your violin checked by a professional if this does not work. Do not put any kind of lubricant or softening liquid or powder on the pegs as it could damage your violin for later sale or use.
