I have found this viola for sale. It plays and sounds OK. I would like other opinions of this maker and the quality of his work.

I own a Roderich Paesold 14in viola. My parents got it for me when I was in Jr High. I believe the date on it is 1976 -- Personally, I think it has been a terrific instrument. I did not play from high school up until about a year ago (I'm 30 now). I am just now playing at a point where I would like a larger instrument, but my mentors who are both string teachers and very accomplished players are constantly telling me how nice it sounds. I will say the Tomastik Dominant strings made a big difference too. I do find that notes on the C can sound not as full and rich as I would like, but I suspect it's more a product of the size than the maker.

I did have a seam repaired a couple years ago. After the viola had sat unused, it developed a separation between the side and top.

Hope that helps, I know you posted this quite a while ago :-)
