I am just starting to play the Viola and after 4 days I can say that I have been enjoying it - However I have broken my A string and cannot play again until new strings are sent. I took it out, it seemed cold and was out of tune, I waited a while and it was still out of tune - during tuning I broke the A string.
The Viola I purchased was $200NZD (cheap yes, But I am a beginner) here is the auction description
- Solid Spruce Top
- Maple Back
- Maple Sides
- Ebony fingerboard, Jujube-wood accessory, Foam case, Hardwood Bow with real unbleached Mongolian horsehair
I would really appreciate any advice concerning caring for the instrument - Specifically to do with temperature when playing it. Also, any suggestions for practicing without using the instrument?
It will be at least 3 days before I can play again if not more... I hope that my progress so far will not be lost! I can play twinkle twinkle little star in tune (says the tuner) but my timing is not perfect (says the metronome)
