im going to play the Shostakovich cello conerto #1 next season with my orchestra,
so i've been looking for louder strings on the bottom, because my cello isn't the loudest cello in the world
my teacher told me that a string with tungsten is loudest, so i got spirocore C&G w/ tungsten, and helicore C&G w/tungsten
they were loud, but they had this metallic sound to them when i played them
is this common? or is it my cello?
does any body have any other suggestions?
thanks in advance for you input!

I use Pirastro Permanent C and G strings. They really project a loud resonant sound. If you're considering buying new strings give them a try.

consider getting someone to adjust the sound post, as that could really make all the difference.
