Wish I could say yes, but most of the time people ask a question, then move on, and it's only freaks like me that crawl around looking for scraps of would-be conversations 
I think a main reason why these forums are cyber ghost towns is, in relation to asking for advice, that experienced players often have no need of them, and inexperienced players don't know how or don't understand the concepts they are asking about. And let's face it, a real teacher is far more effective than the internet.
In terms of chat, gossip, fun etc.
