Next to the pieces I got from my teacher I'm always trying to "push" my limits by scores, that I'm probably unable to play at the moment. However, I like them so much, they motivate me to practice them as much as possible to become better, to be able to play them as soon as possible. It was like that with Pachabels Canon after half year of learning as well. Now I'm planning on buying this booklet, "Best Metallica for Cello".
If some of You knows this item, I'd really appreciate if you could share Your opinion about it here. I'm especially interested in two questions:
- Are they enjoyable covers? I mean, some solo instrumentations are so "stale", that they are not worth to listen to (or play)
- How many pieces from the booklet could a guy like me learn? (1.5 years of music school, 1st position, learning the 4th now)
I've flipped through the violin one, assuming the cello version isn't that much different (just an octave lower) it wasn't very hard. About a 1.5 to 2 of 5, with five being very difficult.
They show a sample page of it on this site, you can look at two of the pieces and see if it's too easy or too hard for you. Keep in mind it also has a CD, which could also help you learn them.
Dear Lexi, thank You very much for Your kind response. I've seen the page that You have sent me, it seems possible to learn. And can You answer the other question as well? (But anyway, after Your opinion, I think I'll invest the money and buy it).
Dear Lexi! I've ordered it last week, and now it is in my hands now :-) Today I had no time for it, but tomorrow my first thing will be to try and practice. And yes, it does not seem too difficult, especially compared to the Apocalyptica covers :-)
