i tried the lessons on this site but i can't make my notes sound the same as the 8notes tuner. any alternative ways of tuning?

You can Purchase a regular tuner in a music store.

When you buy your tuner, take along your guitar and get the guitar store-clerk to show you how to tune it; don't worry, your tones will be the correct ones.
